"This year, we're working to reduce the number of unqualified non-trade attendees by making some changes to the badge allotment policy. We're asking all of our exhibitors and retail members to be more accountable for their badge lists. And we're creating a new badge type called 'Industry Associate' for those business personnel including advertising and PR agencies, authors, attorneys, and accountants, etc., who need to attend the show for their clients and previously were limited to wearing yellow visitor badges. So in short, we are aware of this problem and are taking the appropriate action, but will need everyone's help and understanding as we all try to make this better and preserve the business environment of The NAMM Show for all."
The Teachers Are In
While we're on a famous quotation tilt, we would even make the Bartlett's people grin with the use of another one. The NAMM Show will offer "something old, new, and borrowed." Let's start with something new. "Unfortunately, I think we will ALL have new wrinkles at this show," said Lamond. "[Laughs] But [seriously], you can expect all of the vibe, energy, and atmosphere that happens when the music products industry gathers in January. Our show theme this year is 'Define your future' and that's really what participating in this event is all about-setting yourself up to have a great year. And while our team sets the stage for the show, the real magic comes from our members-the 1,500+ exhibitors planning events and concerts-the dealers who bring their energy to Anaheim, and of course, seeing all of the amazing artists who are a part of our extended community. There really is nothing quite like The NAMM Show."
Also new is the massive redevelopment project Anaheim is undergoing. "The O.C." is becoming even more chichi with its newest boutique hotel, Hotel Menage, and the first phase of the Anaheim GardenWalk opened in November featuring restaurants including Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, McCormick & Schmick's, P.F. Chang's, and Roy's of Hawaii. In addition, the Anaheim Marriott and Hilton Anaheim have undergone redesign/expansion projects.
