We know. We know. Your top priority at NAMM is to find great products with great margins you can sell at your stores. But you can't do that all day and night, can you? With that in mind, we compiled a list of celebrity booth appearances and concerts you might enjoy during your time in Anaheim.
Thursday, January 17 will feature an appearance by Christopher Currell, who has worked with Michael Jackson and Paul Simon. Curell will be demon-strating CME products at its booth, No. 6012, at 11:30 a.m. He will conduct demonstrations at the same time on Jan. 18 and Jan. 19.
Let's kick off the parties on Friday, January 18 with Sennheiser's 10th dealer appreciation party. It is sure to have you seeing red. Punk band The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus that is. The former Warped Tour participant will headline the event along with rhythm and blues singer/songwriter Ryan Shaw. The event will take place at the House of Blues, 1530 South Disneyland Drive, from 7 to 11 p.m. and will include free food and cocktails. See your Sennheiser rep at booth No. 6579 for tickets.
Patti LaBelle clashed with other choirs. Now, she'll crash Yamaha's dealer appreciation party. John Legend will join LaBelle as another keynote performer. John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting and Isaac Slade of The Fray will also be playing. And if Yamaha keeps up with tradition a surprise guest is sure to perform as well. Late night host Craig Ferguson will host the event that will begin Friday at 8 p.m. at Disney California Adventure Park's Hyperion Theater. Speaking of Friday, it just wouldn't be NAMM without an appearance from legendary guitarist Joe Satriani. "Satch" will be appearing at CAD Professional Microphones booth, No. 6226. Satriani will be there at 4:30 p.m.
And Tim Fowlkes, who has worked with Janet Jackson and Aretha Franklin, will demonstrate CME products at booth No. 6012. See him at 2 p.m. Grant Nicholas, known for his work with Toni Braxton, will also conduct product demonstrations at the same booth at 3:30 p.m.
If you head over to the Anaheim Hilton lobby, beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, you can see a host of Conn-Selmer artists. Clarinetist Tom Puwalski will kick it off; followed by saxophonist Danny Lerman at 6:10 p.m.; trombonist Jiggs Whigham at 6:50 p.m.; The Synergey Brass Quintet at 7:20 p.m.; and the grand finale at 8 p.m. will feature The Toasters along with special guests Bennie Cowan and Greg Thomas from the P-Funk All Stars.
Saturday, January 19 will be a huge day at Kahler's booth, No. 5727. The company will offer three guest appearances. Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains will be there. So will bassist Victor Wooten and Slayer's Kerry King. Check at the booth for exact appearances. Also on Saturday, Chad Smith, drummer for a red-hot band, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, will be appearing at Hal Leonard's booth, No. 4618. Smith will be on hand signing copies of his instructional DVD, Eastern Rim. See Smith from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
How about we throw a couple of more celebrity sightings your way? For both, you need to check with the company for date and times. Moody Leather will have appearances from Billy Sheehan, Elliott Easton, Joe Bonamassa, and Neil Zaza. Visit booth No. 1279 for details.
Caleb Quaye, a guitarist who worked with Elton John, Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, Paul McCartney, and Hall and Oates, will visit the Brazen Guitars booth. Also on hand will be Italian guitarist Olaf Thorsen. You can check out both at booth No. 1231.
