At 31, KT Tunstall is older than your average pop star, but that hasn’t stopped her from making hits. Tunstall comes from a home in St. Andrews, Scotland, with parents who rarely played music and a brother who was deaf—leading to her support of the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Foundation. Despite all of that, songs like “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” and “Suddenly I See” have been heard in TV and movies, and Tunstall’s new album Drastic Fantastic preceded the interview she gave via conference call. Tunstall talks in detail about her gear and her developing talents in the studio.
[Editor’s note: As this interview was done as part of a news conference, not all of the questions were asked by M&SR staff.]
