Holiday Holdover
More Hot Products As The Seasonal Sales Guide Concludes
[October 2011 - Page 1]

Editor's Note: As mentioned last month, this year's annual Holiday Sales Guide drew such an enthusiastic response that we literally didn't have page space to include everybody who submitted product information. In the spirit of "All the news that fits, we print," we present the second and final part of this year's Holiday Sales Guide, featuring another dozen products you strongly ought to consider when making your holiday selling season preparations.
We're one month closer to jingle bells ringing through the wintry air while, warm inside, people crouch near the fireplace drinking hot cocoa.
This year, though, it won't be visions of sugarplums but, rather, those of mics, speakers and tuners that will be dancing in everyone's heads. Here's more sizzling product:

Auralex Acoustics MudGuard

Auralex Acoustics' MudGuard is manufactured to help isolate monitors, amps, microphones and stands in recording studios. A member of the ISO Series family of products, MudGuard isolates microphones from external noise bleed and overtones. MudGuard is designed for use with voiceovers and vocals and features the company's Studiofoam, which helps to reduce excessive room ambiance and off-axis sound, said the company. Easily portable, MudGuard has an adjustable height and mounts easily to most microphone stands and clips. MSRP is $129.99. To learn more, call 800-959-3343 or log onto www.auralex.com.

Electro-Voice Live X
Is it live or is it Electro-Voice's Live X? Well, the latter is a series of powered and passive loudspeakers. Both series of speakers feature company-engineered woofers and 1.5-inch titanium compression; lightweight materials with a balanced design and ergonomic handles for simple transport, set-up and load-out; 15-millimeter plywood construction with a textured finish; and a built-in 60-degree monitor on 12- and 15-inch two-way systems. According to Electro-Voice, the price of the speakers is "unheard of" compared to similar products. The Powered series comprises the ELX112P 12-inch two-way speaker with a $979 MSRP; the ELX115P, 15-inch two-way at $1,139; and the ELX118P 18-inch subwoofer at $1,299. The Passive series consists of the ELX112 12-inch two-way speaker, sporting an MSRP of $489; the ELX115 15-inch two-way at $649; the ELX215 dual 15-inch two-way at $979; and the ELX118 18-inch subwoofer at $819. For more information, call 952-884-4051 or visit www.electrovoice.com/livex.

Planet Waves NS Mini Headstock Tuner
Planet Waves is going small with the release of its NS Mini Headstock Tuner. The product, released at Summer NAMM in July, follows the success of Planet Waves' Chromatic Headstock Tuner launch. The NS Mini is lightweight and is so small, the company says, that it can be practically undetectable when it is clipped to the back of a headstock. Therefore, it is designed to blend in with the aesthetics of the instrument and not be visible to an audience. Instead of using cable hookups or microphones, NS Mini uses an instrument's vibration as its input and provides accurate tuning without the interference of ambient room noise, said the company. It serves best on loud and dark stages. The MSRP is $29.99. For more information, call 631-439-3300 or visit www.planetwaves.com.
