In Fayetteville NC, Edwards Music hosted a very cool event in July. That month, The Fayetteville Observer reported in its original story, 10 drummers competed in Supernatural Cymbals’ “I’m A Natural!” 2012 Drum Off. Every drummer had three minutes to play, with the winner earning a cool $1,000 in cymbals and prizes, as well as a chance to be featured in Supernatural’s national marketing campaign.

Around 100 people flocked to the store on N. McPherson Church Rd. for a day packed with events, including a drum clinic, product demonstration, jam session and competition. Plus, there was $2,000 worth of giveaways. Contestants who participated in the Drum Off were judged on their technique, originality, overall performance, style and presence. Serving as judges were Skip Walker, drum instructor at Methodist University; Lee Vasser, band teacher at Seventy-First Middle School; and Shawn Adkins, Owner of The Rock Shop. Nick Tamez, Edwards Music’s percussion guru, pulled the event together.
